Kaduna electricity consumers staged a peaceful protest at the headquarters of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) in the state, to express their dissatisfaction over lack of stable electricity.

The protest was organized by a group, Coalition of Electricity Consumers, which included residents from Sabon Gari’s new extension and other communities, as well as consumer associations like the Welders Association Students Union, National Youth Council, and Printers Association.

According to the protesters, business activities have been severely affected due to the lack of reliable power supply, leading to the collapse of several businesses in the area.

Mubarak Abdulganiyu, speaking on behalf of the protesters, urged the management to improve their services to enhance the residents’ quality of life.

During the protest, Aliyu Saidu, the Manager of Rigasa Feeder Station, briefly engaged with the protesters, requesting them to end the protest and agree to arrange a meeting with the community on  June 14, 2023.
