Mr Vincent Akinbami, head of the competition’s Organising Committee, informed sports writers that the two matches would hold in the morning at the training pitch of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS) in Kaduna.

“The semi-finals will have defending champions Unity Bank Plc playing United Bank for Africa (UBA) at 8 am, while Fidelity Bank will play Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) at 10 am in the second semi-final pairing,” he said.

The annual soccer competition which was introduced in 2008 is for staff of corporate bodies like banks, insurance outfits and telecommunications companies based in Kaduna and its environs.

Akinbami disclosed that the four teams qualified following the competition’s group phase which ended last weekend.

“From Group A Unity Bank came first, after playing a 3-3 draw with GT Bank in their final group game. They had two points from two matches with five goals for and five goals against.

“GT Bank which garnered two points came second in the group, with three goals for and three goals against. Oceanic Bank came third with two points but two goals for and two goals against.

“In Group B, Fidelity Bank defeated Skye Bank 3-1 in their last match to emerge first with six points from two matches, while UBA came second with three points from two matches. Skye Bank came last with no points from two matches,” he stated.
