Kaduna: Death toll of football field gun attack hits 5

Another victim of the gunmen attack at a football field at Zunuruk village of Kaura Local Government Area in Kaduna State has died from gunshot wounds, Daily Trust gathered.

Armed men had reportedly shot dead four people and injured four others Sunday evening at the football field while a football competition was ongoing.

A witness, who opted not to be named, said the attackers came from a nearby bush and shot sporadically at the unsuspecting spectators, killing four on the spot.

When our reporter visited the General Hospital Kafanchan, the hospital’s bus was seen carrying three of the injured victims to Kaduna while the fourth victim was discharged after receiving treatment. However, one person among the three persons that were taken to Kaduna for treatment, reportedly died yesterday, taking the death toll to five.

Confirming the development to our reporter, the Village Head of Zunurk, John Joseph and the Youth Leader of the area, Zaks Swanta, said they lost five people to the attack. The names of those killed at the spot are; Cephas Peter, 39; Solomon Yohanna, 48; Felix John, 46 and Barnabas Garba, 37.

The spokesman of the police in Kaduna State, DSP Yakubu Sabo, did not answer his calls at the time of filing of this report.
