Speaking at the commissioning of the toilet, which is an E-Worldwide Group school health initiative, Hajiya Fatima said the project is aimed at inculcating the habit of healthy living in pupils so that to reduce the rate of communicable diseases among children.
She said 75 percent of diseases are preventable if only people learn to live a healthy life by adhering to basic health care rules.
“Disease like Diarrhea, Malaria and Cholera can be prevented by simple washing of hands after visiting conveniences. But today, you will see people especially young pupils walking into the toilet and coming out without washing their hands and they still use the same hands to eat. So, build this convenience to encourage our pupils to live a healthy life,” she said.
Earlier, the chairman of E-Worldwide Group, Dr. Salma Abbasi, stated that the program is a school health initiative designed to work with Primary Health Care Centres, (PHCs), schools and communities to increase awareness on simple hygiene among pupils.
In his remark, the chairman of School Board Management Committee (SBMC) Alhaji Ashafa Aliyu, assured that the facility will be maintained, adding that the committee will ensure its sustainability.
