House of Reps

A former member of the House of Representatives, Samaila Abdu Suleiman, has explained that his resignation as Counselor on Infrastructure in Kaduna State was a deliberate step to enable him contest in the forthcoming elections.

Suleiman, who previously represented Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly before his appointment by Uba Sani, in a letter dated March 2, 2026, and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government notified the state government of his decision to step down from his role in the administration.

“I hereby resign my appointment as Counselor on Infrastructure, with immediate effect,” the letter stated, noting that he would ensure a proper handover of all official property in his custody in line with public service regulations.

Speaking further after confirming the authenticity of the letter, the former lawmaker made it clear that his decision was guided by the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Suleiman had served for years in the House of Representatives before taking up his appointment as Counselor on Infrastructure after losing the 2023 election, a role he said he discharged to the best of his ability before deciding to pursue his next political aspiration.
