The Kaduna State Government has urged the Atyap chiefdom and other tribes in the southern part of the state to embrace peace irrespective of their ethnic and religious differences.

While reiterating the position of the state government on peace, security and development, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, also appealed to the media to set an agenda that will promote peace in the state.

Speaking at an Interaction and Mediation Training in Response to violence in Southern Kaduna organised by a non-governmental organisation, Mercy Corps, Aruwan commended the Agwatyab and other critical stakeholders as well as security agencies working in Zongon Kataf and the general area.

“Once there is an atmosphere where people will recourse to the law, you will realise that there would be a reduction in crisis because it will go a long way to stabilising the general area,” he said.

In his remarks, the National President of Atyap Community Development Association, Silas Adamu, said the main purpose of the event was to create a peaceful environment and thanked Mercy Corps and the Kaduna Peace Commission for enhancing their capacity to work towards creating a peaceful community.
