The Zuru community of Kebbi state residing in Kaduna state has empowered 64 of its youths with tailoring skills.

The head of the Zuru people, Engr. Zubairu Danjuma said so far, 64 people have been trained in four centres in Igabi, Kaduna South, Chikun and Kaduna North LGs.

He said, “We were worried that the youths are ideal and the fact that it may breed restiveness, so we decided to start an empowerment program to at least equip them with tailoring skills for a start so they can move into the labour market.

“Most of the problems where you find youth committing crimes, it is because they are idols. But now, since they have a place to go every morning and they will have a future, they will have something to live on and it will reduce restiveness.”

Danjuma also said a member of the House of Representatives representing the Zuru/Fakai/Danko-Wasagu/Sakaba Federal Constituency of Kebbi state, Kabir Ibrahim donated some sewing machines to the group for the programme.
