The Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development (MHSSD), in partnership with Dev-Afrique Advisors, a leading social impact organization, has convened a high-level strategic engagement aimed at accelerating the implementation of the state’s pioneering Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) policy.

The organizers said the dialogue marks a significant step towards transforming Kaduna into a model of inclusive growth through targeted support for women entrepreneurs and community-level empowerment initiatives.

The gathering brought together key government officials, development partners, and strategic stakeholders to deepen their collective commitment to translating policy into real, measurable benefits for women across Kaduna. Central to the discussion was the proposed formation of a High-Level Advisory Committee (HLAC), a multi-stakeholder body tasked with guiding the strategic direction, coordination, and monitoring of WEE initiatives. Comprising senior government representatives and development partners, the HLAC aims to foster transparency, accountability, and synergy across all efforts to uplift women’s economic participation.

During the engagement, Rabi Salisu Hajia, Kaduna’s Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, reaffirmed her department’s dedication to capacity-building initiatives.

She emphasized targeted interventions for the wives of local government chairmen and commissioners—aimed at embedding empowerment practices within local governance structures and ensuring community buy-in for sustainable impact at the grassroots level.

Mrs. Hansatu Adegbeti, Senior Advisor and Women’s Economic Empowerment Specialist at Dev-Afrique, underscored the importance of comprehensive capacity-building efforts.

She highlighted training in financial literacy, business management, and digital skills as essential elements to ensure women entrepreneurs can maximize the benefits of available grants and scale their ventures sustainably.
