Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (KSPWB) has cautioned pilgrims against carrying prohibited items in their hand luggage as inbound journey of the States’ pilgrims is set to commence this week.

The Overseer of the board, Imam Hussain Ikara gave the warning while addressing pilgrims during a sensitization visit on preparations of returning home after the pilgrimage.

 

He said pilgrims must avoid carrying sharp objects, toy guns, firearms, explosives and flammable items, meat cleavers, blades and scissors in their hand luggage.

 

The Overseer also warned against carrying Zamzam water in their main luggage, as well as perfumes in cans, especially body spray.

 

“Every pilgrim is entitled to five litres of Zamzam water which had since been transported to Nigeria during airlifts, so there will be no need for any pilgrim to carry it in the main luggage”.

 

Hussain explained that, any pilgrim who defaults should have himself blamed as all prohibited items would be detected during luggage screening and removed by authorities.

 

“These airplanes have limits and can’t carry beyond their capacities, so we will be endangering our lives if we attempt to overload it. Hence, all pilgrims must abide to weighing rules”, he stressed.

 

Hussain noted that, three cargo companies have been approved by NAHCON for pilgrims with excess luggage to patronize.

 

He assured that, on arrival back to Nigeria, all pilgrims would be given their main luggage and five litres of Zamzam water each at the Kaduna hajj camp.
