The police in Kaduna, yesterday, paraded 79 suspected kidnappers, armed bandits and other criminals and recovered 439 cattle in Rijana village, along Kaduna-Abuja highway.
The Commissioner of Police, Ali Aji Janga, while parading the suspects to newsmen said 35 guns were also recovered from the suspects who were arrested at different locations in the state in July.
CP Janga said, “The gallant determination of our crack operatives such as SARS, AKU, IRT, and other units have again recorded some successes with the apprehension of 79 suspects for various crimes.
He assured that the police were currently reviewing their structural deployment along Kaduna-Abuja road, Kaduna-Zaria road and Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road with a view to making the highways safer for commuters.
He added that efforts are being sustained to rid the state of banditry and other violent crimes.
CP Janga disclosed that exhibits recovered included, nine AK 47 rifles, one unserviceable LAR rifle and 11 locally made rifles and pistols, one pump action gun, three Dane guns, 954 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres and 24 live cartridges, one knife, one hacksaw, and the sum N30,000.
“Others include two handsets, one face mask, two pairs of canvass, four and half (4/2) bundle of brocade (Shadda) materials, 11 caps, one KIA Serato car with Reg. No TT 547 AA black in colour, one Toyota Corolla S ash in colour with Reg. No. GWA 872 FM, and one unregistered Mercedes Benz C350 car ash in colour.
Animals recovered included 439 cattle, 18 sheep and eight donkeys, adding that one tricycle with Reg. No. MKA 248 WY, six motorcycles, eight plasma TV sets, one HP Laptop, one Tiger generator and four cutlasses,” were also found with the hoodlums.
He called on the people to feel free and go about their normal businesses as the command has appreciably reduced the rate of crime within the state.
