Kaduna protest: Heavy security as NLC prepares for showdown with police

24 Hilux vehicles, two armoured tanks, a number of police motorcycles  and armed policemen are presently deployed at the Kaduna state office of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) located on off independence way.

The security personeel are acting on thw order of the Commissioner of Police who has instructed that members of the union should not be allowed to move on major roads in the state to protest the say of 36, 000 civil servants by the state governor.

Spectatators who spoke to Daily Trust under anonymity marveled at the security personnel might the country has which they lamented could not be used to fight and bring to an end the insurgency that has been lingering in the North East.

Daily Trust correspondent who is presently at the scene reports that the NLC is mobilising its members and getting ready for a show down with the police.
