The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, says ongoing road projects across the state are likely to enhance Governor Uba Sani’s chances of re-election in 2027.

Governor Sani, elected in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to seek a second term.

Speaking on Monday while hosting a youth group, Baba-Ahmed said the administration’s urban-rural renewal drive has expanded infrastructure and improved connectivity across Kaduna State.

He said more than 140 road projects covering about 1,335 kilometres have been initiated within three years, describing the scale as unprecedented in the state and the wider northern region.

According to him, over 60 per cent of the projects have been completed, with the remaining ones on track for delivery before the end of the administration’s first term.

“More than 140 road projects spanning about 1,335 kilometres are currently ongoing across Kaduna State, with about 60 per cent already completed,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed added that the projects are spread across all parts of the state, with several rural communities experiencing major road infrastructure for the first time in decades.

“Across the three senatorial districts of Kaduna State, key road corridors have been conceived, initiated, executed, and completed.

These roads are now easing movement, strengthening local commerce, and reconnecting communities that previously faced accessibility challenges,” he said.

He highlighted the 35-kilometre Gadar Gayan–Gwaraji–Maraban Kujama road, which includes a 130-metre bridge over River Kaduna and links 76 farming communities, as one of the administration’s flagship projects.

According to him, the project was completed within two years of Governor Sani taking office, noting that many of the benefiting communities had not previously had access to even a one-kilometre road.

“When Governor Uba Sani assumed office, about 12 local government areas had never witnessed the completion of a one-kilometre road project. Through his commitment, he broke that jinx by awarding and completing projects such as the Gadar Gayan to Kujama road,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed said feedback from residents has been positive, which he believes could translate into electoral support.

“The response to these projects has been overwhelming. The people of Kaduna State will reciprocate by re-electing Governor Uba Sani in 2027,” he added.

Some of the completed roads, he said, include the Magajiya–Amaru–Unguwan Liman Road, Audi–Kako Road, Tudun Biri Road, Durum–Kuruntumawa Road, Pambegua–Kauru Road, Gadan Gayan–Kujama Junction Road, and the Madauchi–Madakiya–Kafanchan Road.
Others are the Gadan Gayan–Kujama Junction Road via Gwaraji, the Durum–Kuruntumawa asphalt road in Makarfi, and the Magajiya–Kasuwan Amaru and Audi–Kako asphalt roads in Zaria.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting youth group, convener of the KADA Agenda, Abdullahi Umar, commended KADRA for what he described as timely delivery and quality execution of projects.

“With the kind of projects executed, we are confident that victory will be assured in 2027,” he said.
