Muslim scholars, under the aegis of the Muslim League for Accountability (MULAC), have called on the Kaduna State government to invoke the Land Use Act to allow residents and indigenes have free access to lands in any part of the state.
In a communique issue at the end of its National Islamic Stakeholders Consultative meeting in Kaduna, the scholars stressed that citizens should be free to live peacefully in any part of the state.
The communique, signed by the group’s chairman and secretary, Dr. Mustapha Isa and Malam Yusuf Arrigasiyyu respectively, said the Muslims in Southern Kaduna should not be termed as settlers but as indigenes, who enjoy full rights as others.
According to the clerics, there were mischievous and misleading information as to the real victims of southern Kaduna crisis, whereas the Muslims had always being the victims of the carnage and destruction.
They further noted that the aggression in southern Kaduna is not limited to the Hausa/Fulani Muslims alone, but extends to other nationalities residing in the area.
“Muslims in Southern Kaduna are faced with two main challenges, mainly physical killings and media war.
“The crisis affecting the Muslims in the area should be perceived as a problem affecting the entire people in the nation,” they observed.
