The Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has sensitized interim committee chairmen, district and ward heads, youth leaders and organizations in the three senatorial zones of the state on land reform. The sensitization exercise held at Sabon Gari Local Government secretariat, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs and Kachia Local Government secretariat.
Speaking at the sensitization exercise in Kachia, the Director General of KADGIS, Mallam Ibrahim Hussaini stated that property owners and the general public would be better informed on the ongoing land reform as a result of the sensitization exercise. According to Hussaini, the reform programme would accord land owners the opportunity to process their properties and obtain statutory right of occupancy (C & O) at N5,000 under the Systematic Property Registration Programme (SPRP). He added that the reform programme would involve provision of proper settlement plans including access roads, hospitals and schools so that those areas would become modern settlements under a systematic regularization programme. The recertification programme he also said is targeting only those with existing C of O to update their information so as to facilitate uniform and secure new digital C of O aimed at reducing fraudulent activities. He therefore appealed to the interim chairmen and traditional rulers to support the reform programme.
