The Kaduna State government will distribute about 55,000 computer tablets that contain 300 electronic books on various subjects to secondary school students.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Andrew Nok, made the disclosure in Zaria while distributing textbooks to schools in the Northern Zone.
He said the books, which covered all the core subjects, would enhance teaching and learning, as well as boost students’ performance.
Professor Nok said the computers were purchased by the government and would be distributed to students soon.
He said N600m was spent on procurement of textbooks for secondary schools, adding that more books would be provided to public schools.
“Knowledge is power and we must invest appropriately in the education sector,” he stressed.
Zonal Director of Education, Sani Aminu, urged school managements and teachers to ensure that the huge investment by government in reading materials was not wasted.
