Kaduna State is targeting a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N20 billion as ongoing fiscal reforms continue to strengthen taxpayer confidence and boost revenue performance, the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Comrade Jerry Adams, has said.

Adams disclosed this while receiving a delegation from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, which paid him a courtesy visit and conferred on him the title of Grand Patron.

The KADIRS chairman said the state’s monthly IGR has risen from an average of N4 billion in 2023 to about N9 billion currently, describing the development as evidence that reforms in tax administration are yielding positive results.

According to him, the state government is now working towards achieving a monthly revenue target of N20 billion.

He attributed the growth to measures aimed at improving tax collection processes, reducing leakages and strengthening public trust in government.

Adams said taxpayers were increasingly willing to meet their obligations because they could see the impact of government spending in key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and social welfare.

“The administration of Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated that resources generated from taxation are being deployed to projects that directly improve the lives of citizens,” he said.

He added that KADIRS would continue to encourage voluntary tax compliance while protecting residents and businesses from multiple taxation and other forms of exploitation.

The chairman stressed that taxation should be viewed as a civic responsibility rather than a burden, noting that sustainable revenue generation remains critical to the provision of public services and long-term development.

Adams also reiterated the state government’s commitment to inclusive governance, saying all residents, regardless of ethnic, religious or regional background, have a role to play in Kaduna’s development.

Earlier, the Co-Convener of the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, Mr Johnny Nwankwere, described Adams as a reform-driven administrator whose leadership has transformed tax administration in the state.

He commended KADIRS for efforts to curb multiple taxation and tax-related harassment, saying the reforms have improved relations between taxpayers and government.

The association pledged to support the state’s revenue drive through public enlightenment campaigns and grassroots mobilisation.

The delegation was led by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Support Groups, Abdulsamad Chima Amadi, who called for stronger collaboration between government institutions and community organisations to advance development objectives across the state.
