The Kaduna State government under the Kaduna Market Development and Management Company (KMDMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a private firm for the construction of an ultramodern international livestock market in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Manager, Stakeholder Relations of KMDMC, Abdul’Aziz Umar, said the market which will be located along Airport Road in Mando will cater for both local and international traders.
“What we intend to achieve is to centralise all specialised cattle markets like Zango and Kawo Cattle markets to the new ultra-modern market to make it more of a standard for everybody to go and purchase whatever animal they want at a cheaper price,” he said.
He said the modern cattle market will ensure the relocation of local animal markets to the new environment and therefore boost the economy, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and increase job creation.
