Governor Mukhtar Yero made this revelation while flagging off the state’s monthly environmental sanitation at PZ, Sabongari, Zaria.
Yero, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Kasimu Lawal, said that when established, the recycling plant would eliminate heaps of refuse from the streets.
 He said: “Negotiation to establish a waste recycling firm, in collaboration with some foreign and home-based companies, has reached an advanced stage. This company, when actualised will, no doubt, assist in making our environment clean.”
The governor appealed to the  residents in the state to  support the government’s efforts in ensuring a conducive, habitable and disease-free environment.
Yero said that his administration has introduced daily cleaning of major roads in six additional local government areas to enhance hygiene.
He also announced that the government has established a committee to check buildings constructed on waterways.
The Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Ahmad Abdu, said that the event was aimed at encouraging the residents to clean their environments.
“I want to emphasise that every religion promotes neatness, no religion encourages a man to live in a dirty environment,” Abdu said.
He said that a mobile court was put in place to prosecute violators of the movement restriction order on  the day of sanitation.
The permanent secretary said that the sanitation period would be from 7a.m. to 10a.m. every last Saturday of the month.
Alhaji Bashar Aminu, the Iyan Zazzau, urged leaders to set example by being committed to the exercise.
“Remember, you do not expect government to come and clean your house for you,” Aminu told the residents. (NAN)
