The Kaduna State government has directed proprietors of private schools operating in the state to register their schools with the Private Schools Board or have their licences revoked.
The directive was given by the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Shehu Usman Adamu, after a meeting with the Management of Private Schools Board.
Adamu said registration and documentation forms are available at the Private Schools Board and urged schools that are already registered to pay renewal fees. While appealing to parents to verify the registration status of schools before enrolling their wards, he advised all landlords who rented property to private schools to ensure that the schools are duly registered with the government. He warned that failure to do that could cause them their homes.
The commissioner appealed to proprietors of private schools across the state to co-operate with the committee that would be set up to review their activities.
