The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) yesterday dispensed fuel to residents of Kaduna State, from a station caught hoarding the product.
The DPR did the same in Yola, Adamawa State.
In Kaduna, a filling station located at Romi Junction in the state capital was caught hoarding a total of 19, 500 litres of fuel.
The agency during its routine inspection of petrol stations across the state also sanctioned those discovered to be selling above the official price.
Presently, a litre of petrol in Kaduna metropolis and environs is sold as high as N200 per litre.
 The DPR officials led by the Zonal Controller, Usman Ndanusa, swooped on the station following a tip-off.
The manager of the filling station complained of not getting the product from the depot at government approved price, hence they had to adjust their retail price.
The DPR officials also ordered another filling station along Romi road to reverse its pump price to N87 from N135. The station was also fined the sum of N100,000.
The controller said the punitive measure would serve as deterrent to other hoarders that it was no longer business as usual. He said the agency would ensure that the commodity is properly distributed among commuters.
In Yola, the DPR sealed off eight filling stations after dispensing their supplies for free.
When our correspondent visited the filling stations along Airport road in Yola, motorists, motorcyclists, as well as persons carrying jerry cans were seen receiving free fuel.
“I got 30 liters for free and you can see people are happy with the development. Yesterday we bought a liter of petrol at N200 due to scarcity when these filling stations hoarded the products”, a motorist said.
The DPR Coordinator in Adamawa and Taraba states  Musa Akin  the disciplinary action followed violation of DPR rules with some of them selling above pump.
