The Kakaaki Africa Project, an empowerment initiative, has trained about 30 youths including persons living with a disability on advocacy and community service.

Speaking at the training, the Founder of Kakaaki Africa Project, Ismail Bello, said: “The training was designed to provide youth with knowledge of relevant political processes, critical thinking skills, and practical skills necessary to engage in participatory democracy at the local, national, and international levels.”  

Bello said the two-day training was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to participate in the planning and decision-making process in local governance.

He also said the training focused on building their capacity to engage in local government decision-making processes by providing them with the necessary tools to become active citizens in their local communities.  

“Participants were trained on various skills such as public speaking, media engagement, and building partnerships with community members and government representatives to advocate for the needs of the community.

“In addition, they were provided with training on civic and political processes in Katsina State so they could effectively engage in the democratic process,” noted Bello.
