Theatre will meet fashion again this Yuletide as ‘Kakadu’ fans will be thrilled once again with performances of the widely celebrated stage musical show.
It is billed to show in Lagos for five days from next week to early January at the Agip Recital hall, Muson Centre.
The performance written and produced by Uche Nwokedi is centred on the story of a famous Lagos nightclub in the 1960s as a backdrop for an era, which was a fusing spot of wonderful music and the distinctive social life that followed the birthing of a young nation.
The plot chronicles Nigeria’s story as a country on stage and in motion, whilst sharing her love, friendship and survival in spite of the way society discriminates against background and tribe.
Upon the request of the then Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, ‘Kakadu’ was staged at the Muson Centre in December 2013 after it had run a successful show at the Calabar Christmas Festival and also as part so of theatre performances presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last year.
Since its May 2013 premier, ‘Kakadu’s’ story has been of style, drama, dance and song. This year, the 39-man cast will feature appearances from notable faces like Benneth Ogbeiwi, Kemi-lala Akindoju, Nobert Young and Tina Mba among others.
