No one can doubt that Honourable Adamu Kamale polled the most votes to get the seat in the Federal House of Representatives to represent Madagali/Michika Federal Constituency, with most of the votes coming from his locale, Michika, against all odds. But what everyone seems not to understand is why the honourable member, who, though the only People’s Democratic Party candidate to have won the 2015 elections from the local government, has turned on the people who elected him, to rob them of the relative peace they enjoy.
Kamale enjoys the privilege of being at ease with the APC bloc in Michika, as his bosom friend, Honourable Ibrahim  Bilal, who, aside being the seating Adamawa State APC chairman, was the chairman of Michika local government for three months. During his brief sojourn, Bilal also enjoyed a good measure of cooperation from our people. Yes, Honurable Vandi Favanza, the immediate past chairman of the local government, who is also the APC candidate in the rescheduled polls, was everyone’s candidate and he won the election that made him chairman on the platform of the PDP.
The long, introductory discourse is meant to show how these three sons of Michika local government rode on goodwill to lead our people. Strangely, today, they have turned on the people, because they think they have lost their say in an election that would have been history last weekend. Very bizarre how they came to office by the poll and want to hand-pick Favandza of the APC and foist him on the people. Because they have been rebuffed, they are stalling the election in 16 ward councils. But, how do they hope to fight the people and win?
What is even more worrisome is Kamale’s alliance with the APC in the election. Everyone can understand where Bilal and Favanza stand, but what does Kamale stand to gain? Given, without any structure in his immediate constituency, he is not likely to be re-elected into the House in 2019. Is he pissed that his preferred candidate, Mr Micheal Shehu, did not get the PDP ticket?
Kamale should be reminded that, not only did the people of Michika Local Government take him to the Adamawa State House of Assembly, where he cut his teeth in politics, they also gave him more than 80 per cent of the vote that got him his seat in the National Assembly. Better, they can also decide his fate in 2019.
Favanza should also be told that politics is not a do-or-die affair. Our people’s will is more important than anyone’s desire to lead us by all means.  Bilal, sure, wants to have a bragging right, but Michika is not an English Premier League derby. Shifting the local government elections from last Saturday to this weekend is needless.
I have nothing personal against anyone of Kamale, Bilal or Favanza, but I have issues with them joining forces with external forces, to see that our people are not given the deserved opportunity to elect their choice candidates. If Bilal and Favanza have done well for our people in this dispensation, they won’t be afraid to go to the polls to prove their mettle. Understandably, they know the ignominious role they have played, so far, so it is clear to see why they have lost all their cockiness and, thus, want to drag, virtually, the local government with them. Haba, my brothers, will you be happy if our beloved Michika is the only local government in the state with a Sole Administrator?
