Kannywood Actress Wasila Isma’il Passes Away

A veteran Kannywood actress, Wasila Isma’il, has died at the age of 46.

Confirming the death in a post on social media, her ex-husband, Al-Amin Chiroma, said she died on Sunday at the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) hospital in Kaduna.

She is survived by four children.

A prominent figure in the Kannywood industry, Wasila began her acting career in the late 1990s with her debut film, Jinin Masoyi.

She later rose to prominence after featuring in Wasila, a production directed by Yakubu Lere and Ali Nuhu.

Beyond acting, Wasila also worked with Liberty Radio in Kaduna.

The late actress had worked at Liberty Radio in Kaduna.

Mourning her passing, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Ali Nuhu, in a post on his social media, prayed Allah to grant her soul eternal repose.

“Surely we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. May Allah have mercy on you and forgive you. May Allah grant your soul eternal rest. Amen.” he wrote on his verified Facebook page.
