The Emir of Kano, Dr. Ado Bayero, who was represented by the district head of Fagge, Alh. Muhammad Ado Bayero, drew the attention of film makers to improving morals in the society and be mindful of foreign cultures that have negative influences on the people.

The chairman, organizing committee of the events, Ibrahim Mandawari, in his speech, gave a brief history of Kannywood, saying it was preceded by television dramas on NTA, CTV and Radio before the first film, Tunbin Giwa.

He emphasized the roles of the industry in changing perceptions among the people of northern Nigeria and other places where Hausa is spoken and thanked God for sustaining the industry for this long.

The event was graced by stars in the industry like Baballe Hayatu, Bashir Kaya, Sani S.K and Tukur S.Tukur Dandugaji and Dan’azumi Baba Cediyar Yangurasa and Kabiru Nagwaggo,  Kabiru Maikaba.

Women, too, were not left out, with the likes of Rukayya Dawayya, Maimuna H R B, Sadiya Gyale Hadiza Kabara, Hajara Usman, Saratu Gidado Daso and many others making a strong appearance.

Other events billed for Abuja to mark the event will now hold in January, 2011.
