The actress died at Armed Forces Hospital along Airport road in Kano after a protracted illness.

Though, the exact cause of her death has not been made public, it was gathered that she fell ill some three weeks after delivering a stillborn child last September.

She was laid to rest according to Islamic rites at around 5.00pm Tuesday at Kofar Mazugal cemetery while the funeral rites were conducted at her Gwammaja family house, near Jujin Labu Stores.

The deceased was for some months married to actor Shu’aibu Lawan Kumurci. After the marriage broke up, she married Kannywood singer Musbahu Ahmed in December, 2009. Her second marriage crashed barely 10 months after it was consummated.

Maryam is survived by her parents and relatives. She will be remembered for her roles in films like Kudisiya, Kumbo, Bara’a, Zamantakewa,Jani and Sai na Dawo among others.
