Over eight prominent actors, actresses and movie directors from Kannywood, will be heading to Los Angeles, California, USA, this month to attend the Relativity Professional Development Workshop for creative professionals in the industry.
Some of the filmmakers billed to attend the workshop are Ali Nuhu, Hadiza Gabon, Hafizu Bello, Hauwa Maina, Kamal Sani Alkali, Nazifi Asnanic, Bello Mohammed Bello (a.k.a General BMB) and Hassan Giggs among others.
One of the selected directors, Hafizu Bello, said the filmmakers will spend two weeks attending classes at Relativity Film School located at the LA Centre Studios where they will be exposed to active studios sets and modern filmmaking techniques.
He added that the professional development workshop is part of the institution’s global effort to teach Hollywood best practices to the Nigerian film industry.
Bello added that Nigeria’s film industry represents a huge commercial opportunity, largely comprised of direct-to-video productions and progressively growing box office receipts.
It was gathered that the goal of relativity education’s expansion is to develop a global audience and international acceptance, leverage digital distribution platforms, achieve enhanced product quality, identify finance sources, help fight piracy, while collaborating on innovative new distribution models that will ultimately help build a more sustainable future for the Nigerian film community.
The project is initiated by Motion Picture Productions Ltd, African Technology Foundation and Relativity Education with support from private sector institutions.
