Kannywood’s visit to Buhari: Mama Korede spits fire

Maryam Aliyu Obaje popularly known as Madam Korode in Kannywood circles has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent visit some of the Kannywood officials paid on President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja to identify with his re-election bid come 2019 general elections.

The actress described the visit as demeaning to the industry, saying the president does not deserve the solidarity visit as he denied the industry the chance of having a film village in Kano in the pretext of protecting the moral values of the Hausa culture.

She was cited in a post on Arewablog as saying “in earnest my colleagues actors and actresses in the Kannywood movie industry have disgraced us by their solidarity visit on president Buhari, same Buhari that said we should not have a film village that we are wayward people, you have really disgraced us by this visit” she said.

The actress made the statement when she learnt that a delegation of Kannywood officials paid solidarity visit to Buhari at the villa last week.
It could be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday last week hosted stars from Kannywood at a dinner at the state house in Abuja.

The actors in attendance posed in a picture wearing All Progressives Congress (APC) branded mufflers in solidarity to the political ideologies of the APC and president Muhammadu Buhari who is its flag bearer in the forth-coming 2019 general election.

The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufai, Simon Lalong of Plateau state, and the president’s head of staff, Abba Kyari were among the top government officials present at the dinner.
