The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has suspended its chairman, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, over what it called violation of the party’s constitution.
Also suspended was the party’s organising secretary, Alhaji Sanusi Suraj Kwankwaso.
The suspension came 24 hours after the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Gwanduje, declared his intention to reconcile with his predecessor, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
The party’s secretary, Alhaji Abbas Sani Abbas, announced the suspension yesterday shortly after a meeting with party members at the party secretariat in Kano. He said the party’s Central Working Committee has appointed Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, as the interim chairman of the party.
He also said the committee has set up a seven-man disciplinary committee headed by Alhaji Haruna Amadu Dan-Zago, to review series of complaints levelled against the two suspended executives.
The secretary said the suspended executives, if found guilty of the allegations levelled against them would be punished accordingly. Abbas urged members of the committee to review the complaints against the suspended executives critically, adding that it has only one week to complete its investigation and present its findings to the party.
The meeting was attended by local government party chairmen, members of the state House of Assembly among others.
