The Kano State Executive Council has approved N51,5 billion for the execution of key projects and programmes aimed at promoting good governance and enhancing the well-being of the citizens of the state.
This was contained in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya after the 27th council’s meeting.
Ibrahim said the council has approved the release of N15, 667,634,645.10 for the settlement of outstanding severance gratuity and allowances of former councillors who served between 2014 and 2024.
Among the key projects and programmes approved are N185, 162,487.50 approved to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation for the settlement of outstanding fibre optic installation and bandwidth subscription for 2023-2025.

Another N11, 000,000.00 was approved for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for the settlement of 11-month outstanding allowances for 100 forest guards.
Council also approved N327, 780,226.89 to the Ministry of Education for the settlement of some outstanding liabilities under the education sector.
He explained that the council, in support of the state government on land development, approved N265, 803,510.00 to the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning for the payment of compensation to property owners affected by the expansion of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
The council approved a combined sum of ₦8.6 billion to address critical challenges in water supply and education as part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration’s commitment to social infrastructure and human capital development.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the intervention is described as a “strategic measure to ensure uninterrupted water supply” across the state.
In a separate move to revitalise the education sector, the council approved ₦6.9 billion for infrastructure and scholarship initiatives.
The Ministry of Works secured N3,469,629,136.81 for installing wireless solar-powered traffic lights across Kano’s metropolitan areas as part of the Urban Renewal Programme.
