Kano armed robbery attack: Police arrest 2, recover vehicle
“It was a pure case of armed robbery” DSP Kiyawa said.
A team of police operatives dispatched by the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Habu A. Sani has arrested two suspects and recovered a car, after a robbery incident that left one dead at Zoo Road Saturday night.
A 50-year old man, Isa Hassan Abubakar was said to have been shoot by the armed robbers before they succeeded in snatching his car at Zoo Road in Kano metropolis.
The spokesman, Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the arrest incident to our correspondent on Sunday, said quick response of the police, truncated the attempt by the armed robbers to escape with the stolen vehicle.
He confirmed that, “it was a pure case of armed robbery. They shot at their victim and tried running away with the vehicle.
“Our men arrived in good time. Police cordoned off the area. The vehicle was recovered and two suspects were arrested in connection to the armed robbery incident.”
He added that, “the police rushed the victim to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he was quickly attended to, but was later confirmed dead as a result of severe bullet wounds.”
The police spokesman said investigation is still ongoing as police are making frantic efforts to track down more of the arms and ammunition they used.
