After few days of epileptic commercial activities in Kano due to the governorship elections, business activities had significantly resume in the state.

Chronicle observed that businesses were crippled two days after the gubernatorial election largely due to the fact that the day after election day was Sunday and there was little apprehension in the metropolis as collation of elections result was on going.

Similarly on Monday, businesses have opened in some places but not in full scale as people were waiting for the announcement of the election result.

Chronicle further observed that all major markets within the metropolis have fully opened yesterday for their daily commercial activities perhaps because of the declaration of the governorship election result by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which was said to be inconclusive.

At the popular Singer Market, the chairman of the Traders Association, Alhaji Uba Zubairu Yakasai, told Kano Chronicle that businesses have fully commenced and the market was full to the brim.

“Our market is full today and we are carrying out our commercial activities as normal as usual. We even had some visitors from outside the state who came to purchase goods as usual,” he said.

Alhaji Yakasai called on governments to do more in the area of youth unemployment as he said was the major reason why the young and talented people of the state engage in some unwholesome activities.

Also, the Kantin Kwari Market, businesses have fully returned yesterday. A textile business owner,Muhammad Nasir Ali, told Chronicle that all shops have opened, except that there were no many visitors from outside the state.

At Kurmi Market, the situation was the same. A book seller, Abdussalam Muhammad Yankaba, said the market has fully opened but they recorded low sales as there were no much buyers.

At the perishable goods market of Yankaba, businesses have opened since Monday as there were enough supply of goods and trading went on successfully.

At Sabon Gari Market, a patent medicine store owner, Mahmud Wapa, said businesses were active yesterday. “Only that on Monday, the market was deserted to some extent,” he said.

Meanwhile, schools have resumed fully today as well after they went on the election break.
