Kano State government has called on stakeholders to support the ongoing measles immunization exercise in the north in order to ensure its success.
Director, public health and disease control, Kano State Ministry of Health, Dr Tijjani Hussein said measles is still the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Kano State.
“I’m suggesting that each child should be given second time measles vaccine to give him or her perfect immunity. This call is imperative because measles is still the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Kano state,” he said.
He added that the state has not been able to meet the target set for the immunization due to challenges which include inadequate clinicians and community sensitization and difficulty in getting blood samples of the children.
