The management of Ecwa eye hospital Kano has distanced itself from alleged criminal act by one of the hospital staff Mrs. Itohan Pius.
Mrs. Pius a trained nurse and employee of the hospital has been involved in an alleged buying and selling of a child an act the hospital says is an offence.
Addressing newsmen at the hospital conference hall in Kano, Medical Director of the hospital Dr. Atima O. Mayor stated that the act of the staff does not represent the philosophy and believe of the institution.
He added that, the issue has been forwarded to law enforcement institutions for further investigation and prosecution.
“Since the case is with the law enforcement institutions, we believe she would face the full wrath of the law while the hospital is considering her sanction based on the staff rules of ethics, for dragging the name of the hospital to disrepute” said the Medical Director.
The suspect Mrs. Pius who has been a staff of the hospital for 4 years has been accused of selling and buying a child the case is presently under investigation.
