According to the Director, Veterinary Services, Kano State Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Shehu Bawa, the federal government has directed the state Ministry of Agriculture to send list of the farms affected and their bank account numbers for possible compensation.
He added that, the compilation exercise was delayed due to the fact that some of the affected farms lacked corporate bank accounts, adding that “the federal Ministry of Agriculture has given us a deadline to submit the list of farms affected by the flu and their respective corporate bank account numbers.
“The problem here is that some of these farms do not have corporate bank accounts. Therefore, we have to make them open accounts to fulfill the major criteria. We are optimistic that we will meet up with the federal government ultimatum to ensure that the affected farms benefited from the financial intervention from the federal ministry of agriculture,” he said.
However, the director reaffirmed the state government’s effort in curtailing the spread of the flu to other parts of the state, adding that effective measures have been put in place.
