The National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN), Kano chapter, has flagged off a recovery exercise of the 2019 season of cotton farming, under the Federal Government’s anchor borrower scheme, implemented through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Speaking during the ceremony, the national vice president of the NACOTAN, North-West, Alhaji Munzali Dayyabu Taura, said the flag-off had shown how committed cotton farmers are to the sustainability of the scheme.
He said that so far, cotton farmers are ensuring that the recovery exercise succeeds as against what was obtainable elsewhere.
Similarly, the controller, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kano branch, Alhaji Ali Abdulkadir, said that under the scheme, each farmer accessed inputs and cash worth N170,400 per hectare of cotton farm. He disclosed that the apex bank had disbursed over N5billion to over 30,000 farmers in Kano State.
