A Kano Shari’ah Court sitting in Gama PRP in Kano has remanded three people for breaking into a shop and stealing valuables.

The offence is contrary to sections 120, 216 and 133 of the State Penal Code Law (SPCL).

On December 6, 2023, one Auwal Nasir reported to the police division in Badawa area that the trio of Kazim Ibrahim, also known as Boka, Muhammed Aliya, also known as Arne, and Ammar Jibrin, also known as Ajebo, all residents of Badawa, had committed the offence.

They are being charged for stealing valuables inside the shop including an iPhone 6 worth N130,000, silver rings worth N184,000 and cash amounting to N125,000.

The suspects agreed to have committed the offence when the prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala, read out the charges to them.

The prosecutor told the court that the first defendant had a criminal record as he had once been arraigned before a magistrate court for stealing a car.

He added that the second and third defendants were known for disturbing the peace of their neighbourhoods as there were complaints about them.

The judge, Malam Nura Yusuf Ahmed, sentenced them to six months in a correctional facility for the first offence or the option of a N10,000 fine each.

On the issue of breaking a shop, he sentenced them to three months in a correctional facility without an option of a fine.

Also on the case of stealing, they were sentenced to one year in a correctional facility each with the option of a N30,000 fine each while also ordering them to repay the owner his money worth N357,500.
