Kano court remands 3 over alleged N133m fraud

Magistrate Court No. 8, sitting at Nomansland Quarters in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, has ordered the remand of three individuals over allegations of conspiracy, fraud, and cheating involving the sum of N133 million.
The accused persons—Sunusi Mainasara, Bashir Rabiu Aliyu Danbare, and Aliyu Haidar (a politician currently at large)—were arraigned on charges brought by the prosecution.
The defendants present in court pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The prosecution informed the court that the accused conspired to commit the offences by fraudulently selling properties, including houses, plots of land, and motor vehicles, valued at over N133 million.
The state prosecutor applied for permission to present witnesses to support the charges, while the defence counsel filed an application seeking bail for the defendants.
After listening to submissions from both sides and reviewing the applications, the presiding Judge, Hadiza Abdurrahman, granted the prosecution leave to present its witnesses at the next sitting but refused the bail application.
The court ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional center and adjourned the case to February 17, 2026, for further hearing.
