A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Noman’s Land, Sabon Gari, Kano, has sentenced six women to two weeks of community service after finding them guilty of conspiracy and engaging in prostitution in the Sabon Gari area.

The six defendants pleaded guilty to all charges after they were read to them by the prosecutor.

Delivering judgment, the presiding magistrate, Huda Haruna, ordered three of the women to undertake two weeks of community service by sweeping the Juma’at Mosque in Zungeru.

The remaining three were similarly sentenced to two weeks of community service at the Zungeru Court premises.

According to the police, the women were arrested by a patrol team in Sabon Gari while engaging in acts of prostitution, an offence prohibited under Kano State law.
