Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano at a news conference and broadcast said government had purchased additional 33 personal protective equipment and some vehicles and is working with the federal government at airports and land borders to prevent the virus from spreading to the state.
The state executive council, Kwankwaso said, had received the report of the committee set up on Ebola which said there was yet no case of its spread to the state. He said the state had taken concrete measures to ensure that Ebola is prevented, adding, “In case it happens, God forbid, the state is very ready, because we have purchased various items that are associated with Ebola virus prevention.”
He advised citizens to ensure personal hygiene and take care of their environments, while urging the ulama’a to help with prayers and public enlightenment against the virus.
The Delta State government also designated seven hospitals in the state as isolation centres to handle any suspected case of the virus.
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan said yesterday that a committee had been set up to educate and sensitize the people on prevention and management of the  virus.
He urged the people not to panic as there had been no identified case of the virus in the state.
“There is no Ebola virus in Delta State and it will not come to the state. We are doing everything possible to deal with the scourge. We have set up an inter-ministerial committee comprising the Commissioners for Health, Environment and Information to sensitise and brief Deltans on measures being put in place to tackle any outbreak in the state. We have designated seven hospitals in the state as isolation centres where any suspected cases will be managed. Also, every Local government area has a contact person and there is a contact phone number- 32815 where text messages [SMS] can be sent to report any suspected case”, Uduaghan said.
