Kano Disco settles family of diseased staff with N5m

The family of late Kamal O. Mustapha, staff of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) Kabuga business unit who died in the line of duty in June 2015, received N5.1 million as entitlement, the company has said in a statement.
The payment of the entitlement followed KEDCO’s rapid move to retrieve payment benefit from the Group Life Assurance of Niger Insurance in respect of the deceased.
Presenting the of N5.1 million naira check to the deceased parent, KEDCO’s Acting Chief Administration Officer, Kabir Umar Gano said the effort was in line with company’s desire to addressing the plights of its staff, both living and dead.
Gano described late Kamal as “hardworking, dedicated and resourceful,” saying, “the deceased will be greatly missed by his colleagues in particular and the company at large.”
Receiving the payment, father of the deceased, Mr. Murtala O. Mustapha who couldn’t hold back tears dropping from his face, summoned courage and thanked KEDCO management on behalf of his family.
“It is sad to receive such a huge amount of money belonging to a dead son. One cannot change the will of God but continue to praise Him for everything for He knew better what is best for His servants at all times,” the statement said.
