The district head of Kabo in Kano State, Alhaji Idris Adamu Dankabo, popularly known as Sarkin Gabas, died following a car accident on Thursday.
The incident has plunged the ancient town of Kabo and neighbouring communities into mourning, with tributes pouring in from traditional institutions, religious leaders and residents.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. A death has occurred to Sarkin Gabas, Idris Adamu Dankabo, who died as a result of a car accident yesterday (Thursday),” a statement from the palace read.
According to the palace, the funeral prayer will be held today at 10:00am at the Kofar Kudu of the Emir of Kano’s palace.

“May Allah forgive him and have mercy on his soul. Amin,” the statement added.
The late traditional ruler was widely respected for his humility, wisdom and commitment to peace and development of the Kabo Emirate.
