A visit to Kadawa irrigation centre revealed that most farmers did not harvest their rice. The rice plantations were still visible while others were clearing their lands in preparation for the dry season farming.
Most of the farmers spoken to said they have not received any assistance yet as they have not commenced planting and that the preparation for the dry season farming activities is ongoing.
When contacted, Kano State director of the federal government Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA), Malam Adamu Muhammed Shehu, said this year’s dry season activities have not been flagged off yet, adding that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture will roll out its provisions for the dry season activities very soon in order to meet up with time and demands of the farmers.
