Kano firemen save vehicles, building

Operatives of the Kano State Fire Service, Bompai Fire Station have prevented the spread of a fire that was about to engulf a filling station.

In a statement, the spokesman of the service, SFS Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said information was received on Wednesday about an emergency at about 6am from one Hassan Usman who reported the outbreak of a fire on Hadejia Road by A.A. Rano Roundabout in Nassarawa Local Government Area.

The statement reads in part: “Our firefighters from Bompai arrived the scene of the fire by 7am, an uncompleted premises of about 200 x 200ft used as a black oil (LCB) recycling plant.

“We successfully saved one black oil tanker, four other vehicles, several drums of asphalt and stopped the spread of the fire to neighbouring houses.”
