The Kano Free Trade Zone has recorded significant revenue growth in 2025, generating over N18 billion internally through Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) operations, while Customs revenue from the zone totaled N17 billion between January and October, reflecting a marked improvement from the previous year.

Disclosing the figures at the 2025 Kano Free Trade Zone Investors and Stakeholders Forum held from Wednesday, 26th to Thursday, 27th November, NEPZA Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, said the growth underscores the zone’s rising economic activity and investor confidence.

 

 

 

“The level of investment in the zone is high, and this revenue reflects both increased production and efficient operational management. It demonstrates the Free Zone’s potential as a hub for non-oil industrialization and export-driven growth,” Ogunyemi said.

 

 

 

The forum themed: “Strengthening Partnerships for Efficient Service Delivery in the Free Trade Zone,” brought together investors, government agencies, and regulators to discuss collaboration, operational efficiency, and adherence to standards within the zone.

 

 

 

Kano State NAFDAC Coordinator, Kassim Idrissa Ibrahim, urged investors to maintain strict compliance with quality, safety, and efficacy standards in the production of food and drugs to protect both domestic and international market credibility.

 

 

 

Ogunyemi also highlighted that the forum would help streamline regulatory processes, reduce operational bottlenecks, and ensure that the Free Trade Zone continues to provide a conducive environment for investors while fostering economic diversification away from oil dependence.

 

 

 

Richard Bassi, Head of the Kano Free Trade Zone, noted that the zone’s growth reflects coordinated efforts among NEPZA, Customs, NAFDAC, and other agencies, emphasizing that continued collaboration is key to sustaining investment gains.

 

 

 

The revenue surge and regulatory reforms position Kano Free Trade Zone as a strategic driver of industrialization, export promotion, and economic development in northern Nigeria.
