Interior minister Abdulrahman Danbazau says federal government is to build extra prisons in Kano this year to decongest exist ones there.
Danbazau, who stated this while reviewing yearlong achievements of his ministry at a town hall meeting in Kano state, also said additional passport office would be established in the state before end of this year.
He said Kano is important to the federal government, hence the decision to build additional passport office and a prison in the state.
The minister also said FG will rehabilitate Kurmawa Central Prison, noting that government was worried about the condition of prisons and was determined to address the problem.
He added that more police, prison and civil defense personnel would be recruited soon. He noted that recently the ministry has recruited immigration personnel.
On her part, the Minister for Budget and Planning, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, said the federal government has included Kano-Maiduguri dual road and Kano Western Bypass projects in the 2016 budget.
Meanwhile, Ministers Water Resources, Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu Kazaure, Interior, Alhaji Abdulrahman Bello Danbazau, Informtion, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, Minister of state for Budget and Planing, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, her counterparts of Solid Minerals, Bawa Bwari Abubakar and Industry, trade and investment, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar have attended the meeting.
