Inspecting the abattoir site recently, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Nasiru Yusif Gawuna, called on Kano business community to compliment government efforts towards job creation so as to ensure self-reliance among citizens of the state. The commissioner who commended Dangawan for the initiative, said government would look into possible ways of assisting him to successfully complete the project, adding that such investment would help curtail drug abuse and insurgency among the youth.
Responding, Alhaji Dangawan said, after establishing abattoirs in Lagos and Abuja, he realised the need to have a similar mega abattoir in Kano, which if completed would provide jobs for the people of the area.
The commissioner also paid an unscheduled visit to the Kano abattoir at Kofar Mazugal where he called on the contractor handling the construction of the modern meat shops at the facility to speed up for immediate commissioning.
