Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has formally confirmed the appointment of 4,315 teachers into the state’s civil service, describing the move as part of his administration’s commitment to restoring the glory of education in the state.

Speaking at the induction ceremony in Kano on Thursday, the governor said the newly appointed teachers, who had earlier served as interns, are now permanent and pensionable civil servants.

“This is not just a ceremony, but a testament to our unwavering belief that education is the foundation and a prerequisite for the development of our people.

“We expect you to teach with passion, serve with integrity, and dedicate yourselves to shaping the character of our children,” Yusuf said.

The governor also announced the approval for the recruitment of an additional 2,616 qualified teachers by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to strengthen the system and achieve the prescribed teacher–pupil ratio across schools.

He highlighted several ongoing reforms in the sector, including the construction of new schools, rehabilitation of dilapidated structures, distribution of learning materials across all 44 LGAs, and promotion of thousands of teachers “on a scale unprecedented in the history of Kano State.”
