The Kano State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with Sankara Nigeria Limited and Lovol Nigeria to modernize farming practices and enhance agricultural productivity across the country.

The collaboration was formalized during a high-level meeting held in Kano, attended by representatives of farming associations and key industry stakeholders. The session was chaired by Hon. Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture.

Speaking at the meeting, the Managing Director of Sankara Nigeria Limited, Dr. Nafiu Danladi Sankara, said the company has supported farmers since 1978 through the supply of tractors, implements, and spare parts designed to improve efficiency and increase yields.

“Our focus has always been on helping Nigerian farmers farm smarter, boost productivity, and contribute to national economic growth,” he said.

Li Chan, representing Lovol Nigeria, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing durable, high-performance agricultural machinery that enhances productivity and reduces manual labour.

Hon. Ibrahim described the partnership as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s agricultural sector, noting that it demonstrates the potential of public-private collaboration to drive food security and economic growth.

“Our farmers remain the backbone of our economy,” he said. “By linking them with global industry leaders, we are equipping them to compete internationally while strengthening our food systems.”

The meeting also discussed plans to expand the initiative beyond Kano to other parts of Northern Nigeria and, eventually, the entire country. Stakeholders agreed to promote mechanization, innovation, and sustainable agricultural practices among farmers.

At the end of the session, participants expressed optimism about the alliance, describing it as a practical step toward transforming agriculture into a driver of national development.

“This is more than a partnership—it is a call to action to support farmers and build a stronger, more resilient agricultural sector,” Dr. Sankara said.
