The Kano State Government has issued a three-game ultimatum to the management and technical crew of Kano Pillars Football Club to regain form and winning streaks.
The Acting Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hamza Safiyanu Kachako, gave the ultimatum following the team’s recent poor form in the ongoing 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Affectionately known as the “Sai Masu Gida,” Kano Pillars suffered a setback in their last outing, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Bendel Insurance of Benin. Prior to the loss, the team had endured consecutive defeats, including a 1-2 home loss to Shooting Stars and a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Enyimba International.
The commissioner emphasized the unwavering commitment of the state government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to support Kano Pillars in their quest for success.
However, he made it clear that decisive action must be taken to get the team back to winning ways, stating that the government would not watch beloved Kano team falter.

The management and technical crew of Kano Pillars, was then urged to turn things around in the next three crucial games, commencing with the upcoming match against struggling Gombe United on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano. This will be followed by an away fixture against former champions Akwa United and a home encounter against Doma United of Gombe.
Currently occupying the 7th position on the table with 41 points from 30 matches, Kano Pillars were urged to secure maximum points in the upcoming fixtures to rejuvenate their season.
Under the leadership of Kachako as the Commissioner of Sports, the ministry was said to have allocated the necessary funds for Kano Pillars FC to complete its remaining matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
“This support comes with the approval of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, demonstrating a commitment to the advancement of sports within the state,” he added.
Kachako expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for his unwavering support for the team and called upon the loyal fans to continue rallying behind Kano Pillars during this critical period.
